Timeless Setting
Historic House
Reimagined
The ‘beating heart of Turtle Island’ is the name given to the two billion year old bluffs and the tumbling rapids of the St. Louis River by the Indigenous People of North America.
Henry Oldenburg, one of the first American conservationists, built his family’s home on the land adjoining Jay Cooke State Park. The Oldenburg House hosted frequent social, artistic, and political events that shaped Minnesota’s great quality of life.
For the last fifty years, Leslie and Helen Swanson have been the devoted stewards of the Oldenburg House, placing it on the National Registry of Historic Places and preserving its unique character.

Now Glenn and Emily Swanson are renewing the Oldenburg House as an exceptional bed and breakfast inn, wedding and special event venue, and gathering place where people are drawn together by Oldenburg’s ancient and uplifting energy.

Infrastructure upgrades, driveway and parking facilities, outdoor bathrooms, patio, landscaping, lighting, stage, full wedding planning services, tent and equipment rental, music services and much more – including improvements made to accommodations within the house.
